Nowadays, no place on earth can be considered totally safe - not even the church. The church also experience certain problems of abuse and tragedies that other communities go through. Yet, as all of us already heard millions of times, prevention is better than cure.
When I came across http://www.take-care.ca I realize that communities like the church should also have a set of policies that will help ensure that this place of worship and a sanctuary to a lot of people stay safe. Imagine the effect of seeing your sanctuary stumble in the face of tragedies or crisis? That is why the church has to remain a pillar of strenght which is what God is to all of us who believe in Him.
With the set of proven policies and standards, order is set and with order things become a lot easier to manage. Screening and training the volunteers and staff is very vital so that you can obtain and maintain a church that serves its purpose. The staff should also feel that they are being heard and cared for in order to uniquely care for your flock. Training is also a great help so that you don’t get caught unprepared on certain situations.
Take Care - care for your staff and volunteers so that they can also take good care of God’s children.
