Going to school can be boring most of the time.  Imagine, you have been doing that for more than 10 years.  That is why it is also important to be involved in extracurricular activities.  These kinds of activities enable you to break the monotony of going to school and studying.  This is also a way of practicing what you have learned and sharing your knowledge to others.  The Texas Culinary Academy (TCA) and other culinary schools have just that.  TCA student services include chef competitions, chili cook-offs, a gingerbread benefit and an annual pumpkin-carving contest.  These activities aim to encourage the student to make use of their knowledge and to insert fun into their lives as students.

Contests and other extracurricular activities help the students grow, not just in terms of academic advancement but also in terms of personality.  It develops their sportsmanship, cooperation, and confidence.
